Crystal Bowersox

With northwest Ohio's Crystal Bowersox competing for this season's American Idol crown, Huntington Center is opening its doors to the public for a free viewing party of the show's finale.

The two-hour event during which the show's winner will be named begins at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The viewing party in Toledo may be shown during the national broadcast.

Doors to the Huntington Center will open at 6:30 p.m., with seating limited to 8,300.

To kick off the festivities, the city of Toledo and Lucas County will host a block party on Huron Street between Jefferson and Madison Avenues.

The block party will begin at 5 p.m. and last until about 7 p.m.

A press release said more information will be provided about street closures closer to the event date.

Bowersox and co-finalist Lee DeWyze will perform beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday on American Idol, seen locally on Fox affiliate WUPW-TV, Channel 36.
